Mark started the business in 2001, using his agricultural engineering background to work on both agricultural vehicles and Land Rover, before deciding in 2006 to focus solely on Land Rover and make MiD what it is today.
As the main founder, he oversees the whole operation and leads from the front – which often means that he does whatever needs doing! It also allows him to drive the company’s values of always doing the right thing, and treating customers the way he would always want to be treated. It may be old-school, but it’s served him well from the very beginning. Even better, it has led to many a happy customer, appreciative of a job well done.
Outside of work, Mark still enjoys all things Land Rover (with a spot of clay-shooting thrown in). In fact, it’s hard to see where the work ends and leisure begins…
Helen initially joined Mark in 2003 on a part-time basis, before giving up her farming lifestyle to work full-time at MiD in 2006.
As the other partner in the business, she is very much hands-on, front-of-house and customer-facing – handling the phones and taking care of the orders and bookings. Seeing how often customers are pleasantly surprised with MiD gives her the best job satisfaction; from their delight with the job done and the price charged, to their relief that the most common parts are already in stock and that their Land Rover will usually be back with them that same day.
When not helping to run the business, Helen is a busy mum of two boys who can’t get enough of sport…
Ian has been here since the beginning of 2016 as our Service Manager, having spent his entire career involved with Land Rover.
Being in a customer-facing and admin role, he ensures that everything office-based runs smoothly: from managing the diary, designating the jobs and balancing the workload, to handling all of the estimates, MOTs and invoicing. And, of course, ensuring that our customer service and quality of work are of the highest standards… Which we’re pleased to say very often are.
In his spare time, Ian likes to make the most of simply living life, relaxing with a good book or by unwinding in a country pub…
Ena joined MiD in early 2017, and is all too familiar with the automotive industry having previously worked for more than a decade at main dealerships around Wantage.
As our Accounts Administrator, Ena is the person who handles all of the financials: from paying our suppliers and sorting out the wages, to managing the VAT returns. And, of course, ensuring that everything tallies at the end of each day! When she doesn’t have her head in the figures, she loves getting involved in MiD’s family-ethos approach to customer service, answering calls and greeting whoever comes into the office.
Accounting aside, Ena’s four grandchildren and a lively Springer Spaniel keep her more than busy!
Having joined MiD in 2007, Harry’s been with us since the early days and leads the workshop team.
He specialises in the software/electronic module diagnostics and repair side of the business (so works on newer Land Rover models), and is our chief fault-finder! It’s something he’s particularly proud of thanks to his high success rate of solving even the most complex problems (and preventing further ones), all backed up by the latest LR diagnostic programmes.
Outside of MiD he spends his weekends appreciating public house architecture around Oxfordshire...
Leon joined MiD in 2009 and is another stalwart of the workshop.
His expertise is with older Land Rover vehicles which is why he sometimes points out that he’s a ‘proper’ mechanic… Working with older models isn’t without its challenges though, so a clean repair and a job well done is extremely satisfying – and even more so when customers are just as happy with the results!
When not at work, Leon spends time in his own Defender off-roading, or on his motorbike. And when he’s not driving, the occasional visit to the pub for a drink with friends…
Gary has been with us since 2013 and adds to the technical experience and team spirt in the workshop.
Whilst being our go-to person for clutch work, he’s a real generalist who can work on whatever comes through the door – which is a real bonus when you consider how many vehicles we manage to get through in a day!
Outside of work, Gary is still involved with car repairs, souping-up hot rods. Otherwise, he’s very much a family man, and really enjoys caravanning whatever the weather.
Although a junior member of the workshop team, Tom has been with us since 2014.
Having completed a three-year Land Rover Training & Development Course at the Jaguar Land Rover Training Academy in Warwickshire, he uses his skills here in a generalist role and is often involved in accessory fitting – from installing side steps to winch bumpers. And recognising that he’s come a long way in a short time, the biggest privilege for him is knowing how comfortable customers are entrusting their vehicles with him and the rest of the team.
Just like his colleagues, Tom loves cars and so spends his spare time modifying them, with a view to one day having his very own Defender…
Dave joined us at the start of 2017 and takes care of everything in our stores.
Having come from a horticultural and agricultural mechanics background, he definitely knows what’s what when it comes to parts; booking and ordering what’s needed and making sure that the workshop always has the right supplies close to hand. It adds to the collective team effort and, more importantly, ensures that our customers are back on the road again sooner than they expected!
Away from work, Dave is into his motorsport and DIY – which, at one stage, saw him renovate his house from top to bottom…
Chris only joined us in 2017 but brought a wealth of experience with him and already knows many of our customers!
Having previously worked as a Land Rover technician and agricultural engineer, he now looks after the car collections and loan car deliveries – and takes great pride in ensuring that everything is returned to customers spick and span, and on time.
When not doing that, you’ll find Chris enjoying the outdoors with some country sports or gardening.
